Get Ready for the Second Annual Colorado Off Highway Vehicle Expo!
On April 5 and 6, 2003, the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition is bringing back the second annual OHV Expo. The inaugural show blew out the winter blahs by showcasing the latest toys and accessories. This year will feature more exhibits, more goodies, and even more ways to have fun.
Your admission goes to a great cause. As one of the coalition’s biggest fund raising events, Expo proceeds help keep Colorado’s spectacular routes open to your vehicles. It is held at the National Western Complex – the same location as Denver’s famous National Western Stock Show. The promoter, Industrial Expositions Inc, has signed up a dazzling array of off-highway vehicle exhibits featuring motorcycles, ATVs, 4WDs, snowmobiles and accessories.
Your first stop should be the COHVCO booth. Sign up for chances to win prizes given away at the show. The grand prize is a brand new 2003 Suzuki DRZ 110 donated to COHVCO by Davis Service Center! Kids and grownups alike know that it’s a great choice for beginners as well as the weapon of choice for the new wave of adult mini bike races. Other prizes include head-to-toe sets of dirt bike and ATV apparel. Join or renew your membership and you’ll receive one-time-only incentives. You’ll also be entered in hourly drawings for additional prizes such as apparel, gear, accessories, and gift certificates.
In case you’re not sure where to find the COHVCO booth, look for the crowds milling around the off road superstars in attendance. Legends such as Kawasaki Team Green’s current two time AMA Hare Scrambles champion Fred Andrews, Team Honda’s nine time GNCC champion Scott Summers, and eight time national enduro champ Dick Burleson will be waiting to offer you setup and riding tips.
COHVCO is most often asked “where can we use our OHVs?” The Expo is your single best place to find out the answer. Start by asking representatives of the OHV clubs you’ll find in the special club section. Pose the question to experts responsible for the Colorado State OHV program. Get information (and special deals) from OHV tourism businesses and civic organizations. Sign up to rent vehicles and talk to guides who will show you the very best spots. And finally, don’t forget the COHVCO booth. We’ll be giving out maps from L&M Productions, and are always happy to talk about our favorite routes.
Last year’s biggest hit was the stadium trials demo put on by the Rocky Mountain Trials Association. This year these motorcycle magicians are back with even more spectacular feats to keep you and your family in awe.
Many of us in Colorado own four wheel drive vehicles. Whether the trailhead is your destination or the beginning of your fun, you’ll be amazed at the incredible rigs at the Expo. Watch 4x4 and other OHV action at the video theatre. Think your trick 4x4 stacks up? Compete for prizes in Saturday’s 4WD Show and Shine.
Need to clean out your garage to make room for the great deals you’ll find at the show? Sunday is your day to buy and sell vehicles and accessories at the swap meet.
Show hours are Saturday April 5: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm; Sunday April 6: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $8.00 for adults; children under 12 are free.
