| Future Roadless Meetings | | Saturday, January 7, 2006 | Update - Colorado Roadless Initiative Task Force
by Mike Troast
On December 9th, I drove out to Durango for the Colorado Roadless Initiative Task Force meeting. Durango was the second of seven meetings on the schedule. As many of you may be aware, this Task Force was put together by Governor Owens. The group will gather input from the forest user communities, at the local level, and report their recommendations back to the Governor.
This is the schedule for the next four meetings:
Fort Collins (March 17, 2006): Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest
Steamboat Springs (May 18, 2006): Routt National Forest
Monte Vista (June 7, 2006): Rio Grande National Forest
Glenwood Springs (June 21, 2006): White River and Manti-La Sal National Forests
OHV users need to attend and speak at these meetings. Please, try to make an effort to attend these meetings when they come to your area. So far, the OHV users have been out numbered by the environmentalists. We need to turn that around. We have a great opportunity to be the louder voice if enough OHV enthusiasts come out in force. Check your calendar and plan to attend. It will be well worth your effort in the long run.
If you would like to discuss the issues and get involved but don’t know where to start, give me a call or send me an email.
