COHVCO Land Use Issues and Litigation

Snowy Range Travel Management EA Available
Wednesday, November 15, 2006
Hi All,

Below is a notice on the Snowy Range Travel Management EA, which deals with summer wheeled recreation, and no snowmobile issues. I’ve scanned the key pages of the Intro letter and Alternatives for you, and it is obvious that the Proposed Alternative isn’t nearly as good as Alternative 2. For those of you who have visited this area, it is a great motorcycle and ATV area in summer, and snowmobile area in winter.

There are lots of LEGALLY created user trails, most of which are very sustainable (says so in the EA!), and some of which are pretty difficult (yes, I love them!). The full EA and maps are available at:

http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/mbr/projects/trans/

Public meetings are next Tuesday in Cheyenne, and Wednesday in Laramie. Casey Colbert and I will be attending the Cheyenne meeting for sure. We need to get a good turnout to ensure that the USFS hears why Alternative 2 is the right choice, and why they want the Proposed Alternative, so that we can write really good comments.

Comments are due December 14, 2006!

Dennis Larrett,
COHVCO Director
