| Grand Junction Roadless Meeting Thursday, June 22 @ 5:00PM! | | Wednesday, June 21, 2006 | WESTERN COLORADO CALL TO ACTION:
WHAT: Last public meeting of the Colorado Roadless Task Force
WHEN: Thursday, June 22, 2006 5 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
WHERE: Country Inn - Grand Ballroom, 718 Horizon Drive, Grand Junction, CO 81506
IMPORTANT: It is very important that the OHV community has a good showing at this meeting. The Blue Ribbon Coalition and COHVCO have arranged a BBQ at 4:00 to gather our thoughts and get ready for this meeting. Please plan to be there if at all possible and bring as many people as possible.
Rather than take the time to compose an Action Alert on this important meeting, I thought it best to simply forward an email I received today from John Martin.
In his email, John pasted an alert sent by one of these radical anti-access groups telling their members to attend the meeting. In the interests of bandwidth, we've cut their email out. But as you can read in John's email the anti-access crowd is planning to bus people in from all over the region.
That is why it is important for folks in Western Colorado to try to attend this meeting. If you have any questions or need additional info please give me a call: 208-390-5770.
Without further delay, on to John's email.
Enjoy!
Brian Hawthorne, BlueRibbon Coalition
Dennis Larratt, COHVCO
EMAIL FROM JOHN MARTIN:
In Grand Junction at the Country Inn on Horizon Drive at 5:00 on Thursday June 22 there will be the last public input meeting on the implementation of the Roadless Rule for Colorado. After this meeting (which replaces the fiasco in Delta last year) the Task Force of 13 appointees will draft a recommendation for Governor Owens to sign.
It is very important that the OHV community has a good showing at this meeting. The Blue Ribbon Coalition and COHVCO have arranged a BBQ at 4:00 to gather our thoughts and get ready for this meeting. Starting at 5:00 there will be three panels followed by short public input where you can express your opinion. We will be represented on one of the panels.
The environmental organizations are once again busing people in from around the state. It is understood that the last thing these people hear from the public will be the freshest in their mind when drafting their recommendation.
Please plan to be there if at all possible and bring as many people as possible.
We won the day in Delta by filling the room before the buses showed up and that changed the format of all future meetings. We had the first meeting in Delta, the last meeting is in Grand Junction. This is a numbers game, and we rely on you to help show the support needed to get a favorable recommendation.
Please do what you can to help us fill the room one more time. |
